For nearly thirty years, I've bought all my used cars and motorcycles on Craigslits, before that it was CycleTrader and AutoTrader. But increasingly, it's getting harder and harder to find many motorcycle listing on Craigslist. Yes, I know it's the end of the riding season and there are not a lot of listings, but in general. Has everyone gone to FB? Cuz.... F*** FB!

Facebook is big
Offer up and letgo apps just merged so there are some on there aswell.
I would say the majority is on CL but yeah it sucks they are spread out now
You can search facebook marketplace without having a facebook account but cant message a seller without it.

I agree. A big FU to FB.... I'm not a political talking person and 2016 was the final nail in my FB coffin for this guy.
I really miss the cycletrader and autotrader paperbacks. CL is not the same either... Still waiting on a response for my "missed connection" ad.

I think FB marketplace is way bigger now than Craigslist. Also, CL has gotten a bad rap the last few years for the increased sketchiness of many sellers and buyers.
My wife buys stuff on FB marketplace once in a while and we’ve always had a great experience, can’t say the same for CL

I thought one of the reasons there were fewer Craigslist ads is because they now charge for them. It's a small amount, but not free.

SBR is good too. There is considerable risk in buying and selling with the unwashed public.
BookFace is scary. To me.
Edit.. we have a really good local market, so we are fortunate to not have to do crazy stuff. Usually.

I have a fake FB account and I only use it for Marketplace. No friends, no posts, no pictures.
Either that or use your wife/husband, SO, roommate, etc... account to browse and message.
And of course, BARF Classifieds!

This is a site that will help search Craigslist. I also us Offer Up, and Facebook Marketplace. It's true that Craigslist now charges 5 dollars for a post, and that has moved a lot of lists to the other sites.

Tried it - wasn't useful.
So I told it to search for a WR250F within 2000 miles of where I live. All it does is pop up groups of different regions that you have to open one by one, only to be greeted with a message equivalent to "Nope, none in this area." But you have to open them one at a time to find that.
Not good enough. I get better than that with a straight Google search.

CL charging $5/bike on credit card probably cuts down the number of scammers. I don't know what the problem is if someone wouldn't pay $5 to sell a bike.

I don't have a FB account. Can you elaborate on how to set up a "fake" one for the reasons in this thread?
Thanks.

Just set it up with a bogus name, my dog has a facebook account that I use for this kind of stuff. You will need a phone number but you can get a google number or whatever if you really want to keep it isolated from you.

Craigslist went to sh*t because they’re charging money.
Scammers are still using it because they’re using stolen credit cards.
Dealerships post because they can write it off.
Meanwhile my 74? Year old underemployed neighbor cannot find a cheap $1000 to get to work because the people who would be selling their car or truck for $1000 sees it as a cut into the profit margin.
OfferUp is full of scammers, too. Ads are 3+ years old, 3/4 of the people don’t respond, and now they’re merged with letgo.
And I don’t have Bacef*ck so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
